The damage caused by the thieves/vandals has been considerable and poses an ongoing risk which is why the school is currently closed to pupils. Contractors are working very hard to make the school safe. This includes repairing the roof, taking down damaged ceilings and replacing them, replacing damaged electrical sockets and light fittings and repairing/removing damaged flooring. Skips will soon be on the school site to take away all rubbish, but they will need to be stored on the playground, again this would pose a danger to children and further reduce their playing area if they were in school.
By Monday, all 'dirty work' removing and replacing ceilings in the corridor and all electrical work will have been completed. I have also been assured that any skips will be taken off site by mid morning on Monday. The school will once again be a safe place for children to learn and we would like them back in school on Monday 18th April at 8.55am.
There will be no Breakfast Club for that day.
We have found all offers of help extremely heartwarming. On that Monday morning from 8am we need a little help to get some classrooms back into working order. We would like to get together a team of staff and parents/volunteers to help move furniture to new temporary homes. Dosbarth Gwyrdd and Melyn have been most affected, and due to the construction work which will be happening all over the weekend, we won't have an opportunity to set things right before Monday morning. Please let me know if you are able to help - tea and toast will be readily available for all helpers!
