Croeso I Ddosbarth Gwyrdd
Our Contexts this term : Pharmabees and Our Museum
Welcome to the Spring term 2020
Last term we had excellent workshops from the Pharmacy Department at the University. These were based around the Pharmabees project and held at school and the University. We learnt about bacteria, pollination, anti-biotic resistance and the importance of good hand hygiene. The children were inspired to continue with this project.
They have written instructions, made a board game and an Origami bee so far
Values and RE
Our Value this half term is Friendship.
The children will learn about the features of Instructions. They will research and write instructions for a bee Friendly Garden. We will work with a storyteller on a project. More details of this to follow.
In Maths we will continue to focus on the core areas of Place Value, Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication and Division. We will also be working hard to enhance our mental arithmetic and times tables knowledge. We will also work on shape properties, symmetry and angles.
Our Welsh topic is Chwaraeon or Sports and we will be giving reasons for the sports we like and dislike. We will also learn to discuss subjects we study at school and we will complete questionnaires to find out what our friends enjoy learning in school.
As always, we have e-Safety and Keeping Safe online at the very heart of our ICT. We will be learning skills to enhance our collaboration in school and with our JDO school in Colorado USA.
International JDO Collaboration Project!
We are still very much part of the JDO project and working with our partner school High Point Academy in Denver, Colorado USA. Last terms project was sharing information on Wales and researching Colorado. Further updates soon.
PE will be every Monday. Please leave the kit in school in a bag that will be left on the coat hooks. We are continuing with the very successful Judo sessions. The children are really enjoying these and will share with you in a presentation at the end of the project.
Please encourage your child to do their homework or attend Homework Club in school. We now use a Homework Grid which is linked to The Four Core Purposes. The children help plan these activities which gives them real ownership. They should be very proud of their ideas and work produced. We certainly are.
Reading at home is also important. Please help your child with practicing their times tables, as they as so important. The children can still do the learning activities allocated to your child's Active Learn account.
Thank you for your support and we are proud to work with you to help your child learn. If you have any questions please do ask us.
