Croeso i Ddosbarth Oren!
Welcome to a new school year. We have lots of exciting work to do!
Our context this year is Star Wars
We will be learning all about space during this context.
RE and Values
Our value this term is Respect and Reverence. In class we will be exploring The Big Frieze - an RE scheme that will take the children through the big themes in Christianity.
We will start by revising the four key number operations (adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing). We will also be doing lots of measuring work as we make models of the solar system.
Children will apply their literacy skills to our Star Wars context, as we create poems about the stars, reports on the solar system and explanations of how the movement of the earth causes night and day.
Our Star Wars context will take us through the solar system and beyond as we learn about the different objects in space, their features and how they move.
Our Welsh topic this year is Y Tywydd (The Weather). We will also do daily practice of Welsh speaking through Helpwr Heddiw.
This term in ICT we will focus on word processing skills and applying these to our literacy work.
This half-term we will focus on ball skills and invasion games. We will also explore the effect exercise has on the body and learn about the importance of exercise to staying healthy. The children will take part in the "Daily Mile" every day - can they run around the playground for ten minutes without stopping? PE kits should be left in school as lessons may take place at different points in the week.
The children should have all brought home their homework girds. This contains a selection of activities for our Star Wars topic including writing, maths, art and construction work. They should pick one activity to do a week. There will also be work set on Active Learn where the children can practice their maths skills.
