Welcome to a new year and the Autumn term 2018
Welcome back and we hope you had a lovely summer.
The children enjoy naming our contexts and planning ideas based on the skills and topics we need to cover. They have already decided the Victorians sound vile !!!!! This context will allow us to find out about Victorian times, inventions and famous people among other interesting topics.
Values and RE
Our Value this half term is Respect and Reverance.
We are beginning with a novel this half term. It is a classic Tom's Midnight Garden. It links well with our context and we will also look at poetry with a link to this period of history. Each day we have Guided Group Reading. We will also cover SPaG - Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar.
In Maths we will focus on revising the core areas of Place Value, Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication and Division. We will also be working hard to enhance our mental arithmetic and times tables knowledge. We are also be developing our Problem Solving Reasoning skills through different and varied 'Mathemagical' Challenges, and more in-depth numeracy-based rich learning tasks!
Our Welsh topic is Amser- Time. We also have Helpwr Heddiw which helps us use Welsh throughout the day.
In Science we are learning all about Forces and Electricity. We will be doing lots of different fair test investigations that include using the TASC Wheel! Our children will be given the opportunity to plan, conduct and evaluate their own investigations!
As always, we have e-Safety and Keeping Safe online at the very heart of out ICT. We use Google Suite in many lessons.
International JDO Collaboration Project!
We are still very much part of the JDO project and working with our partner school in Belfast St Ita's. We are planning our activities, The children will be given a child to work with and use hangouts with shortly.
PE will be every Monday. Please leave the kit in school in a bag that will be left on the coat hooks.
Homework will be given on a Friday. Please encourage your child to do their homework or attend Homework Club in school. Reading at home is also important. Please help your child with practising their times tables, as they as so important. Sometimes the homework will be a paper handout, sometimes there will be particular learning activities allocated to your child's Active Learn account.
Thank you for your support and we are proud to work with you to help your child learn. If you have any questions please do ask us.
