Croeso i Dosbarth Enfys!
A very warm welcome to all of our new Reception Children and their families. We are very lucky that you have chosen us to teach and care for your children and we look forward to the year ahead!
The children have all settled into life at St Monica's very quickly. They all look very smart in their school uniform and they are all proud to be part of Dosbarth Enfys. They have all enjoyed exploring their new classroom and fantastic outdoor space and have been busy making many new friends. Each child now has a 'Buddy'. These are our Year 6 children who are helping to make the transition into Reception as smooth as possible. They are able to help the children during Worship, lunchtime and at times through the week. They love this new role and all of our Reception children will be getting to know them well over the coming weeks.
Our learning Context this half term is 'Marvellous Me'. Through our context we will be finding out more about each other. We will talk about our families, homes, our likes and dislikes and what our special talents are. We will be finding out more about our brilliant bodies and what they can do and using our senses to explore the world around us.
Our Value this half term is 'Respect and Reverance '. We will explore this value through our collective worship and within circle time in the classroom.
Throughout the year we will be observing seasonal changes. We will be soon be participating in an Autumn walk and using our senses to investigate the changes taking place. We would love the children to begin collecting signs of Autumn for us to talk about in class. We would love to see your collection of Conkers, Acorns and Pine Cones and Autumn leaves.
We are so pleased that most of the children have brought in their PE kits into school and both this and their school uniform is clearly labelled with their names. We would also love the children to be provided with wet weather clothes including a rain coat and wellington boots to use in out outdoor play.
All of the children are enjoying their snack time with their friends. Each child is provided with either milk or water and a healthy piece if fruit. We ask for a small donation of £1 per week to cover the cost of the fruit. This can be paid for weekly or half termly. Please place in an envelope clearly labelled with your child's name.
We aim to update our class page regularly with photos for you to see what he children have been busy doing. This will give you the opportunity to discuss your child's learning with them and see the fun activities they have participated in.
We are looking for parent volunteers to help us on school trips and visits to the library. If you are able to help us please see a member of staff.
If you have any further questions or concerns please do not hesitate to come and see us. We look forward to working with you and your lovely children!
